Native Plant Design

Every design begins with listening carefully to our clients. What do you currently appreciate about your yard and what would you like to change? Are there views you would like to enhance or shield?  What types of plants are you most drawn to?  What would you like to start with and what could be phased in at a later point?  The answers to these questions and more will be the foundation for our work ahead.  We’ll then put a plan together and adjust based on your feedback to get to the design you’re excited about!

We were so happy to have worked with Peter. We wanted to dedicate our entire backyard to native landscaping. We had some ideas, but really wanted to collaborate with an expert to create a cohesive vision and breathe confidence into our plan. Peter did just that, he steered us in the right direction and pushed a few ideas to be bigger and better. He was very down to earth and pleasant to work with. We love watching our plan come to life in the yard.” - Grace, SW Portland

Home Owner Associations
& Community Projects

If you’re a member of an HOA and you’re running into challenges with planting native plants due to HOA resistance, we’ll work with you to come up with a game plan to help shift the HOA to being more amenable to native plants.  HOAs can change though sometimes it takes some work and showing that native plants have multiple benefits that are important to the bottom line including increasing property values, requiring less maintenance and irrigation, and helping to define a sense of place.

Do you have a native plant related project idea you would like to see happen in your neighborhood?  We can brainstorm and explore possibilities to make this happen!

Native Plant Installation

Coming Soon!

We love planting native!  Let us do the work, or we can help set the plants out for you to plant.  We make sure the site is ready to plant and we use bark or leaf litter mulch to make sure your plants start off on the right root!

Grass lawns are largely impervious, and are similar to pavement in terms of ability to manage stormwater. Grass lawns also take significant input of energy, water and chemicals to maintain and support far fewer native bugs and pollinators compared to native plants. We can help you transition these spaces to planting beds ready for native plants! We will work with you to choose the grass removal method that meets your timeline, and is ecologically responsible. We encourage Sheet Mulching which is the use of cardboard and mulch layers to smother the grass and create a healthy soil environment for future planting.

 Maintenance

Do you need some help with weeding, raking fallen leaves to mulch your plant beds, moving plants or other tasks?  We can help!
